Andy Jans Brown
Northern Rivers NSW Melbournian player
Andy Jans Brown has moved around a lot but seems to work mainly around the Byron Bay/Northern Rivers environs.
It’s always interesting to hear from Australian songwriters/musicians who don’t live in a capitol city. Of course Byron Bay is the land of the lotus eaters. People move there, put up a hammock between a couple of trees and simmer down - never to be heard from again - why not?
But Andy has been very productive and continues to perform all over the Northern Rivers of NSW and into QLD with occasional trips to Sydney and Melbourne.
His music is not at all indie or alt which I totally approve of. He uses bold, primary colours and its all executed with great skills and energy.
Andy called in to the show I do on RRR recently. We talked for roughly 35 minutes.
AIRPORT DEPARTURE LOUNGE is Andys 2026 album. His fifth.
Video clip for the title track.
Not In The Mood For You. A single from the album.
Sunset Or Sunrise was the first single.
The most recent single, Growing Pains.
In the interview, Andy references a film he made about eight years ago called Hell Is Light.
Airport Departure Lounge is Andys fifth album. It follows Letting Go! (2012), Sunshine Avenue (double album from 2014) , Hell is Light (2018) and Falling (2024).
A favourite from the album, Sunday Blues.
